Fager Laura is the ideal choice if you would describe your horse as the following;

  • Easily develops cuts or sores.
  • Feels rigid to the contact on one or both sides.
  • Needs more flexibility than a standard straight bit.

Laura is a durable and lightweight, single-jointed Titanium Snaffle. The design is simple, unique and designed with the horse’s ultimate comfort in mind. The whole of the bit surface, including the joints is 100% smooth allowing complete fluidity and freedom in the mouth.

The joints are specifically designed to never interfere or push against the palate, making Laura an extremely comfortable bit. The mouthpiece naturally conforms to the shape of the tongue whilst relieving the bars from constant pressure. Laura is the perfect solution for sensitive horses who easily cut or bruise in the mouth.

The lightweight, straight design helps to promote more precise and direct communication down the reins.

Laura is constructed using Fager’s Anoblast™ manufacturing technique which produces a high quality, extremely durable bit; the highest quality Titanium bit on the market today! The grey colour is a natural consequence of the production process, no additional colouring is used.

At Fager we design our bits to always sit horizontally straight, there is never a bigger bend forward. The reasoning behind this is to ensure that the bit maintains the correct balance point (BP) in the mouth, creating stability and clear communication for the horse. When a bit creates a bigger bend forward, it also moves the BP forward, detrimentally reducing the effectiveness of the aids

This design is the ideal solution for sensitive horses who easily develop sores and cuts as it protects the bars and the flesh of the mouth.

IMPORTANT: The balance point will remain, even if it has a slight bend over the tongue; upwards.

Fager’s designs are always straight horizontally = Never has a bigger bend forward.

NOTE: The balance point will still be kept even if it has a slight bend over the tongue = Upwards.

HOW SHOULD I PLACE MY FAGER BIT IN THE HORSE MOUTH?

The Horse-logo should always be on your horse right side, running forward. FAGER in front.

HOW DO I MEASURE THE SIZE OF THE BIT?

Loose rings it is important to measure from inside of the hole. When the bits are made, they are being measured where the hole is placed. Different sizes on the hole between brands.

Eggbutts are measured from the inside of the eggbutts side.

Wings are measured on the inside of the wings.

WHAT MATERIAL SHOULD I PICK?

Fager works with different materials. The biggest difference between titanium and sweet iron is the lightness. Titanium will give you a quicker response and an "aha-effect" due to the constant pressure is less inside the mouth. A heavier bit with a taste of sweet iron is a good option if you wish for a more steady grip and acceptance. Step one is always fo find the right mouthpiece that is suitable for your horse.

SHOULD I CHOOSE LOOSE, WINGS, FIXED RINGS OR BABY FULMERS?

Fixed rings give the mouthpiece stability, and the rein aids will be more direct and precise. If your horse is hesitant into the contact, fixed rings are to prefer. Loose rings will allow for more movement of the bit in the horse's mouth. Which also will discourage leaning. Loose rings will allow the rider for quick aids with finesse. Fixed rings or loose rings together with bit guards are to recommend if the horse has ”fleshy" lips/mouth corners. Fager Wings have a unique feature called TOL™, Turn Over Lock system prevents the ring to overbend and hit the molars while working your horse. This fantastic feature protects the teeth and makes anxious and tense horses more relaxed.

Fager's patented Baby Fulmer cheeks are a blend between loose and fixed rings. They are curved to avoid pressure on the horse's face and will keep the mouthpiece stable and together with the loose rings attached, still give you a more mobile feeling. These are especially useful if your horse evades the rein aid by opening its mouth and/or tilt its head.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT MY HORSE WILL PREFER?

At Fager, we work with pressure points. To know what suits your horse, we ask certain questions that lead the way to a bit your horse feel it's best. If your horse is new to you, it can be difficult to know the right answers. You can always contact us if you are unsure about what to choose, we have the knowledge and love to share it. A truly suitable bit can absolutely improve your horse movements. It's so important to have the right equipment, among many other things of course.

HOW WILL THE MATERIAL LOOK AFTER BEING USED FOR SOME TIME?

SWEET IRON is meant to rust to give taste to the bit and hide the metal many horses can react negatively on. The more brown/grey the blue part on the Sweet iron turns, the more tasteful the bit will be. With Sweet iron, it is important to clean them dry after every use. Otherwise, it will be a layer of rust that can be uneven on the surface. If this happens, you can clean it with something that contains a low percentage of Phosphorus. For example Coca Cola. Please note, when you clean it with other water, the layer of sweet iron will go away as well. So do not overdo it.

TITANIUM Fager's surgical titanium doesn't have the metal taste and dont need any covering. It's simply tasteless. The blue color will never rust or fade, it's only for show. Bite marks will make the blue go away, but the titanium will still be smooth on the surface. Titanium is super strong and will last more than a lifetime.

CAN I TRY A FAGER BIT BEFORE I BUY IT?

As of today, we do not offer trials from our website directly. We do have stores and bit fitters that do. You can find our resellers here

HOW DO I KNOW MY HORSE BIT SIZE?

If you do not know what size you should buy for your horse, you need to measure a bit that fits. Or measure the mouth of your horse. To do this, we recommend using a whip. You put tape on the one side of the whip. Then you put it inside the mouth of your horse -with the tape just on the outside of the mouth corners, where the flesh ends. Then you put a tape on the other side (or mark by holding your fingers) Then you simply measure between these two spots of the whip. If you are between two sizes, choose the bigger one.

I was amazed at the difference the Carl bit made with my horse. I had been trying to resolve the issue I'd been having with him for months. Within one bit fitting session, I noticed an immediate difference.
